What the Sweden Ticket covers
The Scandlines Sweden Ticket, also called the combination ticket, bundles two legs of your journey into one booking: the Scandlines ferry from Germany to Denmark, and the onward leg into Sweden. For the first leg, choose between Puttgarden - Rødby (around 45 minutes) and Rostock - Gedser (around 2 hours). For the second leg, pick either the Öresund Bridge towards Malmö or the Helsingør - Helsingborg ferry, which takes about 20 minutes across to Sweden. The bridge voucher, or the second ferry ticket, is already built into the combination ticket, so you only book once.
One ticket covers the car plus up to nine people. Travelling by motorbike? A separate motorbike rate applies, covering the bike and up to three people. Vehicles over six metres long, such as motorhomes or car-and-trailer combinations, carry a length surcharge.
Fares: Early Booker, Standard and Flex
Depending on the route, several fare types are available. Early Booker is the cheapest option and can be booked up to 30 days before departure, though only a limited number of these fares are released. The Standard fare covers your booked sailing plus any other free departures on the same day, giving you some leeway if you arrive at the port earlier or later than planned. The Flex fare is valid from the moment of purchase until three months after your booked departure and can be rebooked free of charge; depending on the route, a refund option is also included.
Booking and prices
The best way to book the Sweden Ticket is online, which you can do up to two hours before departure and which gets you the cheaper online rates. Booking at the port instead carries an extra handling fee. Prices depend on the route, fare type and season, varying between low, mid and high season. You'll find the current rates for all four route combinations on the price overview.
Sweden Ticket
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the Scandlines Sweden Ticket
What is the Scandlines Sweden Ticket?+
The Scandlines Sweden Ticket (also called the combination ticket) bundles the ferry crossing and the Öresund Bridge into a single booking. It covers a Scandlines ferry from Germany to Denmark (either Puttgarden-Rødby or Rostock-Gedser) plus either the toll for the Öresund Bridge from Denmark to Sweden or the Helsingør (Denmark)-Helsingborg (Sweden) ferry crossing - all in one ticket.
It's designed for travellers bringing their own vehicle (car, motorhome, motorbike, etc.) on the way to Sweden. Up to 9 people in one car are included in the price. The main advantage of a Sweden Ticket is that you only make one booking, and it's usually cheaper than booking the ferry and the bridge toll separately.
Which route can I take with the Sweden Ticket?+
The Sweden Ticket lets you choose between two ferry crossings: Puttgarden (Fehmarn, Germany)-Rødby (Denmark) or Rostock (Germany)-Gedser (Denmark). Either way, you cross to Denmark on a Scandlines ferry, then drive on towards Copenhagen where - depending on the option you booked - you either continue over the Öresund Bridge to Sweden (Malmö area) or take the Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry across to Sweden.
Which route suits you best depends on where you're starting from. The Puttgarden-Rødby ferry takes only around 45 minutes and runs very frequently, making it the fastest way across to southern Sweden. The Rostock-Gedser ferry takes about 2 hours but gives you a longer break on board, and tends to suit travellers coming from further east in Germany or from Berlin.
How do I book and receive the Sweden Ticket?+
The easiest way to book the Sweden Ticket is online via the Scandlines website. Choose your ferry crossing (Puttgarden-Rødby or Rostock-Gedser) and select the "combination ticket" or "Öresund combination ticket" option. Booking is also possible through Scandlines customer service or sometimes at the ferry terminals themselves, though booking online is recommended to secure availability and the cheaper online rates.
Once you've booked, you'll receive your documents by email. The confirmation includes both the ferry ticket and an electronic ticket (often called an "iTicket"), which - depending on the option you chose - is valid either for the Öresund Bridge or for the Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry. You can print this confirmation or keep it on your phone; it serves as proof at the port and at the toll station.
What documents do I need for the trip?+
Everyone travelling with the Sweden Ticket needs to carry a valid form of ID. UK and other non-EU nationals should bring a valid passport (and a visa, if required for their nationality); EU citizens can travel on a valid passport or national ID card, and children need their own ID document too.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden are all in the Schengen area, but spot checks at the border are still possible, so it's worth keeping your documents within easy reach. Drivers should also carry their driving licence and the usual vehicle papers (registration and insurance), as on any international road trip.
How does the crossing work with the Sweden Ticket?+
On the day of departure, drive to the ferry port (Puttgarden or Rostock) and check in for your Scandlines crossing. Check-in is quick: as a rule, arriving at the port at least 15 minutes before departure is enough. Follow the signs for vehicle check-in, where your ticket is verified either by your number plate or your booking reference. With the standard Sweden Ticket you have a guaranteed place on your booked sailing, and if space allows, you can also take an earlier or later departure the same day.
After the crossing you'll be in Denmark; continue on the motorway towards Copenhagen and the Öresund Bridge. At the bridge toll station, use the bridge pass included in your Sweden Ticket: either scan the barcode from your confirmation at the machine, or show your booking confirmation to staff. The barrier opens and you cross the Öresund Bridge into Sweden, with no further formalities needed to continue your drive.
If you chose the Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry option instead of the bridge, drive to the port in Helsingør. There, your combination ticket doubles as your ferry ticket (scan the barcode at the machine or show your confirmation), and the crossing to Helsingborg in Sweden takes around 20 minutes. From there, you can carry on driving in Sweden straightaway, with no further formalities either.
