Helsingør – Helsingborg
Ferry from Denmark to Sweden across the Öresund
The Helsingør–Helsingborg route is the shortest and busiest ferry crossing over the Öresund – at just 20 minutes, the crossing takes barely longer than a coffee break. It connects the Danish castle town of Helsingør on the island of Zealand with the southern Swedish port city of Helsingborg in Skåne, making it the gateway to Sweden for anyone who wants to bypass the Öresund Bridge.
The route is operated year-round and around the clock by Öresundslinjen (part of the Molslinjen group), using four modern ferries: Tycho Brahe, Aurora af Helsingborg, Hamlet and Mercandia IV. On board you'll find restaurants, cafés, seating areas and duty-free shops. Whether you're travelling by car, motorhome, motorbike, bicycle or on foot, Helsingør–Helsingborg makes a perfect leg of any trip to Sweden – especially combined with a Scandlines combo ticket from Puttgarden–Rødby or Rostock–Gedser if you're arriving from Germany. On the Danish side, the UNESCO World Heritage Kronborg Castle (Shakespeare's Hamlet) awaits, while the Swedish side offers the medieval Kärnan tower, Sofiero Castle and Helsingborg's lively waterfront.
