An overnight crossing from Poland to Sweden

The Gdańsk–Nynäshamn route connects Poland's historic port city on the Bay of Gdańsk with the Swedish coastal town of Nynäshamn, around 60 km south of Stockholm. Covering roughly 260 nautical miles across the open Baltic Sea, it's the only direct ferry link between the Tricity area of northern Poland and greater Stockholm – making it the maritime gateway from Poland to central Sweden.

The route is operated year-round by Polferries (Polska Żegluga Bałtycka), Poland's largest ferry operator, using the ships M/F Nova Star and M/F Wawel. The ferry departs in the evening at 18:00 and arrives at its destination the next day at 12:00 – so you travel comfortably overnight. On board you'll find restaurants, cafés, a shop, play areas for children, free WiFi and comfortable cabins with private bathrooms. Whether you're travelling by car, motorhome or as a foot passenger, Gdańsk–Nynäshamn is the direct way from Poland to Sweden.

How long does the ferry from Gdańsk to Nynäshamn take?+

This depends on the season. In high season (July/August), the ferry runs almost daily in both directions. In the low season, there are around 3–5 departures a week.

Tickets for foot passengers start at around €92 per person. For a car including the driver, the average price is around €500. Prices vary depending on season, cabin choice and how far in advance you book.

Can I bring my car or motorhome?+

Yes. You can bring a car, motorhome, caravan or bicycle on the ferry. If you''re travelling with a vehicle, you need to check in at least 90 minutes before departure – 120 minutes for electric vehicles.

What cabins are available on board?+

Several cabin categories are available – from the 4-berth inside cabin (7.5 m²) to the spacious Owner Class with breakfast, fridge and TV (up to 24 m²). All cabins have a private bathroom.

Since this is an overnight crossing, we recommend booking a cabin in every case.

Can I bring my pet?+

Yes, pets are allowed on board for an additional fee. You''ll need to book a cabin where pets are permitted. Muzzles and leads are required in public areas. Remember to bring all necessary pet documents with you.

How do I get from the port of Nynäshamn to Stockholm?+

Nynäshamn is only around 60 km south of Stockholm. From the port, you can reach Nynäshamn station within a few minutes. From there, the Pendeltåg (commuter train) takes about an hour to reach Stockholm Central. By car, you'll reach the Swedish capital via the E73 in around an hour too.
