Unity Line is a Polish shipping company based in Szczecin and one of the established ferry operators on the southern Baltic. It runs the connection between Świnoujście (known in German as Swinemünde) and Ystad in southern Sweden, making it a key option for travellers heading to Sweden from Poland, northern Germany, and beyond.
Two RoPax ferries handle the passenger service, the Polonia and the Skania. The Polonia, in service since 1995, is the company's flagship; the Skania has covered part of the night and day departures since 2008. Both ships carry vehicles and foot passengers and offer cabins in several categories, restaurants, a bar and an onboard shop. Alongside its passenger service, Unity Line also runs an extensive freight and rail-ferry operation.
History and group structure
Unity Line was founded in 1994 in Szczecin and began ferry operations between Świnoujście and Ystad in 1995. The Polonia has sailed this route from the start, establishing the company as a familiar name in Polish-Swedish ferry traffic.
The company is closely tied to Polska Żegluga Morska, the Polish state shipping line headquartered in Szczecin, which trades internationally as Polsteam. Through this group, Unity Line expanded its fleet over the years: alongside the two passenger ferries came rail and RoRo freight ferries, which also serve the freight connection to Trelleborg. Passenger traffic still centres on the Ystad route today. Since 30 March 2026, Unity Line has been part of the joint ferry alliance POLSCA Baltic Ferries, together with Polferries and EuroAfrica; the Unity Line brand and its route remain unchanged.

The crossing runs across the open Baltic Sea and takes around seven and a half hours, whether you travel by day or overnight. On overnight departures, a cabin is the sensible choice so you arrive rested in Scania the next morning.
