About TT-Line
TT-Line is a German ferry company based in Lübeck and one of the defining operators of ferry services between Germany, Poland and southern Sweden. Since 1962 the company has connected the continent with Trelleborg on Sweden's south coast. Today TT-Line operates a fleet of around ten ferries and employs more than 600 people. The parent company is Lübecker Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG.
From a traditional route to a Baltic network
The story began on 28 March 1962: with the first Nils Holgersson, TT-Line launched the year-round ferry service between Travemünde and Trelleborg, still the company's core route today. The Rostock - Trelleborg connection followed in 1992, and since 2014 TT-Line has also sailed from Świnoujście (Swinemünde) in Poland. The route from Klaipėda in Lithuania was added in 2018, followed by the port of Karlshamn in 2023. Across its whole network, TT-Line now operates up to 18 departures a day, with Trelleborg as its Swedish hub.
A modernisation push came in 2022 with the Green Ships: the newbuilds Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan were the first ferries in the southern Baltic able to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). They carry around 800 passengers and offer charging points for electric cars on board.
TT-Line to Sweden
For your trip to Sweden from Germany and Poland, three routes to Trelleborg matter. TT-Line sails its original Travemünde - Trelleborg route with up to eight departures a day, taking around eight hours, both by day and overnight. On Rostock - Trelleborg, Germany's busiest route to Sweden, TT-Line shares departures with Stena Line; the crossing takes around six hours. From Poland, Świnoujście - Trelleborg runs year-round across the Baltic in around seven hours: for travellers from eastern Germany, the shortest way to a ferry to Sweden.
From Lithuania, TT-Line sails to Sweden from Klaipėda, to Trelleborg since 2018 and to Karlshamn since 2023 as well. TT-Line shares Klaipėda - Karlshamn with DFDS: the crossing with TT-Line takes around 13 hours overnight, and together the two companies sail up to three times a day to Blekinge. Klaipėda - Trelleborg, at around 19 hours, is the longer connection and runs only up to three times a week; DFDS also sells these crossings.
From Trelleborg, Sweden's southernmost town, it's only around 30 kilometres to Malmö; you can reach the Öresund region and the west coast around Gothenburg within a manageable day's drive.
