About TT-Line
TT-Line is a German ferry operator headquartered in Lübeck and one of the key players in ferry traffic between Germany, Poland and southern Sweden. Since 1962, the company has linked the continent with Trelleborg on Sweden's south coast. Today TT-Line runs a fleet of around ten ferries and employs more than 600 people. Its parent company is Lübecker Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG.
From a single route to a Baltic Sea network
The story began on 28 March 1962: with the first Nils Holgersson, TT-Line launched year-round ferry service between Travemünde and Trelleborg, still the company's core route today. The Rostock-Trelleborg service followed in 1992, and TT-Line has sailed from Świnoujście in Poland since 2014. A route from Klaipėda in Lithuania was added in 2018, and Karlshamn followed in 2023. Across its whole network, TT-Line now offers up to 18 daily departures into the Swedish hub of Trelleborg.
A major modernisation step came in 2022 with the Green Ships: the newbuilds Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan were the first ferries on the southern Baltic able to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). Each carries around 800 passengers and offers charging points for electric vehicles on board.
TT-Line to Sweden
Three routes to Trelleborg matter most for a trip to Sweden. The long-established Travemünde-Trelleborg service runs with up to eight daily departures in around eight hours, both by day and overnight. On Rostock-Trelleborg, Germany's busiest route to Sweden, TT-Line shares departures with Stena Line; the crossing takes about six hours. From Poland, Świnoujście-Trelleborg runs year-round in around seven hours across the Baltic Sea - a convenient option for travellers arriving from Poland or further east in central Europe.
From Trelleborg, Sweden's southernmost town, it is only around 30 kilometres to Malmö, and the Öresund region and the west coast around Gothenburg are within easy reach in a single day's drive.
