Gdynia - Karlskrona is the shortest ferry link between the Polish Baltic coast and south-east Sweden. Stena Line sails the route up to three times a day, so you can choose between a daytime crossing and a night in a cabin. If you're coming from northern Poland, eastern Germany or the Baltic states, it saves you the detour via Denmark.
Departure in Gdynia
Ferries depart from Stena Line's Promowy terminal at ul. Polska 4, in the port of Gdynia on the Bay of Gdańsk. Check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. Especially on the evening sailings in summer, it's worth building in some extra time; if you miss the deadline, you won't be allowed to board.
The crossing
The crossing over the southern Baltic Sea takes around ten hours. The route is served by the Stena Ebba, the Stena Estelle and the Stena Spirit. On board you'll find restaurants, a shop, a spa and a nightclub; breakfast is included with cabins. On the daytime crossing a seat is enough, while on the overnight sailing a cabin is the more comfortable choice. Payment on board is cashless, by card only.
By car, motorhome, bike or with a dog
Cars, motorbikes, motorhomes and caravans travel on board; the price depends on the length and height of your vehicle combination, so give the dimensions including any roof box or bike rack. One bicycle per person is allowed. There are no charging points for electric cars on board, so charge before departure. Karlskrona terminal: arrival and onward travel
In Karlskrona you dock at the Stena terminal on Verkö, Verkövägen 101, 371 65 Lyckeby, on the island of Verkö about 10 kilometres from the city centre. The city, with its naval harbour, is the capital of Blekinge county.
For the return crossing: check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. The terminal has a waiting hall and toilets; on-site bookings can be paid by card or in cash, though cash only in Swedish kronor. Both short and long-stay paid parking is available at the terminal. By car, follow the E22 and signs for Verkö or Gdynia; coming from Gothenburg, the route runs via the E6 to Halmstad, Route 15 and the E4 onto the E22. Without a car, take the Skånetrafiken train to Karlskrona C and continue on bus 6, which reaches the terminal in around 30 minutes; a taxi takes about 10 minutes. By car, the E22 continues westward via Karlshamn to Skåne and Malmö, and northward to Kalmar and the island of Öland; from there the coastal road continues towards Stockholm.
