Paldiski - Kapellskär is the car ferry for anyone travelling between Estonia and Sweden with their own vehicle. DFDS runs the line with the Sirena Seaways in around ten hours. It bypasses the capital ports: you depart west of Tallinn and arrive in Roslagen, north of Stockholm.
Departing from Paldiski
Paldiski lies around 50 kilometres west of Tallinn, about three quarters of an hour by car. DFDS departs from the North Harbour at Peetri 11. Coming from Latvia, it's around a three-hour drive from the border to the port. The route is designed for travellers with a vehicle only; DFDS does not carry foot passengers here.
The crossing
The Sirena Seaways is just under 200 metres long, was built in 2003, and has 610 cabin berths. On board you choose between a four-berth cabin, a reclining seat, and a deck spot; for the night, a cabin is the most comfortable choice. Dining options are the 7 Seas buffet restaurant or the Mare Balticum restaurant, plus the Navigator's Bar, a children's play area and a shop.
With a car, campervan, bike or dog
Cars up to 2.7 metres tall travel in the standard category. Campervans, caravans and other taller vehicles are booked by length and height, so give the dimensions including any roof box or bike rack. At Kapellskär, entrance A leads to DFDS. The port lies in Roslagen north of Stockholm, with the E18 running right up to the entrance. You avoid the capital's city traffic and reach Stockholm after around 90 kilometres.
