Since 2026 there has been a direct overnight ferry from Gdańsk to Karlshamn. It takes you from the Bay of Gdańsk to the province of Blekinge on Sweden's south-east coast, without the detour via Nynäshamn or the ports of Skåne. The operator is POLSCA Baltic Ferries, the alliance of Polferries, Unity Line and EuroAfrica; tickets are sold by Polferries.
Departure from Gdańsk
Most ferries leave Gdańsk in the evening, usually at 21:00, with a few at 20:00. There are also daytime sailings on the Copernicus at 06:30. Check-in with POLSCA closes 30 minutes before departure for vehicles and 15 minutes before for foot passengers; every traveller needs valid ID, including children.
The crossing
Two ships alternate on the line. The Skania is a passenger ferry with the full range of onboard facilities. The Copernicus is built mainly for freight; among other things, it has no lift between the vehicle deck and the cabin deck. If you have heavy luggage or find stairs difficult, choose a Skania sailing instead. The crossing takes around 13.5 hours. Children up to 13 travelling with you must have a cabin booked with POLSCA. Pay on board by card, in złoty or kronor.
Car, motorhome, bike or dog
Cars, motorbikes and motorhomes can travel too. POLSCA carries vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and 10 metres long, or 12 metres with a trailer; loose gas bottles and canisters must stay ashore. Arrival in Karlshamn and onward travel
Karlshamn is a port town in Blekinge and one of southern Sweden's major ferry ports. You arrive in the morning and have the whole day for onward travel. On the E22, Karlskrona is a good hour's drive east, Kalmar and the island of Öland are around two hours away, and Stockholm is around five to six hours away. Heading west, the E22 runs via Kristianstad to Malmö.

The published timetable currently runs from September to December 2026 and shows almost daily departures in both directions; ferries back to Poland leave Karlshamn in the late afternoon or evening. Gdańsk - Karlshamn is the newest ferry line between Poland and Sweden. It belongs to the POLSCA Baltic Ferries network, the joint operation of Polferries, Unity Line and EuroAfrica, and is booked through Polferries. The Skania and the freight ferry Copernicus operate the route.
Most sailings leave Gdańsk in the evening and reach Karlshamn the next morning after around 13.5 hours. In autumn 2026, the line runs almost daily.
