The crossing from Tallinn to Stockholm takes a whole night across the Baltic. You board in the Estonian capital in the early evening, eat on board, sleep in your cabin, and arrive in Stockholm the next morning. One operator serves the line all year round, with a second joining in high summer.
Departing from Tallinn
Tallink Silja Line departs from the D-Terminal in the Old Harbour, Uus-Sadama 24. It's around a 15-minute walk into the centre, and tram line 2 stops at Vanasadam. Cars enter the port via the vehicle entrance at Pikksilma 19/2, and the car park at the terminal has 385 spaces and 20 EV charging points.
Tallink recommends being at the terminal one hour before departure. Registration closes 30 minutes before, and boarding closes 20 minutes before; boarding runs between 16:15 and 17:40. Vehicle check-in opens 1.5 hours before departure. Online check-in can be done 24 hours in advance. You'll need a national ID card or passport.
The crossing
The Baltic Queen takes around 17 1/2 hours. Because Estonia is an hour ahead of Sweden, the clock shows an hour less. During the night the ship calls at Mariehamn on Åland, and in the morning it sails in through the Stockholm archipelago. On board there are restaurants, bars, a shop and a sauna centre on Deck 2; cabins range from the basic E category to the Executive Suite.
In summer, Viking Line also sails from Tallinn to Stockholm, with the Gabriella and the Viking Cinderella, taking around 21 hours. You'll find the times in the timetable.
With a car, campervan, bike or dog

Dogs travel on the Baltic Queen in the kennel on Deck 3 or with you in a pet cabin; exercise space is on Deck 6. You must register the animal when booking, as places are limited. Arrival in Stockholm and onward travel
The Baltic Queen docks at Värtahamnen, Hamnpirsvägen 10. Gärdet metro station on the red line is within walking distance, bus 76 runs into the centre, and the operator's shuttle buses connect the terminal with the Cityterminalen in 20 to 30 minutes.
