From Naantali near Turku to Kapellskär north of Stockholm, Finnlines sails straight through two archipelagos. The ferry calls at Långnäs on Åland along the way, taking you to Sweden by car, motorhome or on foot in 8 to 9 hours: as a daytime crossing in the morning or overnight with a cabin.
Departure in Naantali
The ferry port is at Satamatie 9 in Naantali. By car, follow the signs to the port at the Maski/Lietsala junction; vehicles check in at the check-in booths, foot passengers at the terminal, from where a shuttle bus takes them to the ship. Check-in opens two hours before departure and closes one hour before. Have a valid passport or ID card ready. From Turku, take Föli buses 6 or 6A into central Naantali, then change to line N14 to the port. There's an Aimo Park car park right at the port, with parking limited to eight days.
The crossing
The sister ships Finnsirius and Finncanopus, both in service since 2023 and built for up to 1,100 passengers, operate the route. On board there's an à la carte restaurant, a buffet, a bistro and a bar, plus a duty-free shop, the Stellar Lounge, a sauna and spa, and a fitness area. Cabins are on decks 7 to 9, and family cabins sleep up to six. A cabin is compulsory on the evening and night sailing. Payment on board is by card only. If you're travelling with reduced mobility, contact Finnlines customer service before booking: there's no barrier-free access from the car deck to the lift.
By car, motorhome, bike or with a dog
Cars, motorhomes, motorbikes and bicycles travel on board; all vehicles check in at the booths in the port. Details on dimensions and booking are in the guide Travelling to Sweden by motorhome. Dogs and cats travel without a pet cabin on the daytime sailing, but a pet cabin is compulsory on the evening sailing. Arrival in Kapellskär and onward travel
Kapellskär lies on the coast of Roslagen. From the port, the E18 runs via Norrtälje to Stockholm; coming the other way, the port is signposted from Norrtälje as "Hamn/Kapellskär". Without a car, take SL buses 631 or 631X, which stop directly at the port and connect via Norrtälje to Stockholm. The port's address is Kapellskär, 760 15 Gräddö; "Kapellskär" is enough for a sat nav. Finnlines uses entrance C, while entrance B leads to the car park for travellers and the foot-passenger terminal. For the return crossing, check-in opens 2 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before, and foot passengers take a shuttle bus to the ship. The first hour of parking is free with a parking disc, chargeable after that, for a maximum of 14 days. The terminal is open daily from 06:00 to 22:00. The line runs twice daily, year-round. From Naantali the ferry departs in the morning and at 22:45; all times are local, and Finland is one hour ahead of Sweden. The Naantali - Kapellskär route connects the coast near Turku in south-west Finland with the port of Kapellskär in the Stockholm archipelago. Along the way the ferry calls at Långnäs on the Åland Islands, with the Archipelago Sea and the Åland Sea in between.
